Construction Administration Staff Engineer – Sioux Falls, SD
McLaury Engineering is currently seeking a Construction Administration Staff Engineer to join our growing engineering and construction administration group in Sioux Falls, SD.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Construction Administration Staff Engineer, your responsibilities would include:
- Working with engineers, contractors, owners, agencies, and technicians during the construction of transportation, municipal, utility, and private development projects
- Performing construction observation to evaluate whether work is completed in general conformance with project plans and specifications
- Preparing daily construction reports and maintaining accurate records of construction activities, quantities, materials, and project progress
- Reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and other construction documents
- Measuring and documenting completed work and assisting with the preparation of quantity estimates, pay applications, change orders, and project closeout documents
- Assisting with construction progress meetings and communicating project issues to the project engineer, owner, and contractor
- Coordinating construction staking, materials testing, and other project-related field services
- Assisting with the resolution of field questions and construction-related issues
- Supporting construction administration activities in both field and office environments
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Previous construction, inspection, or engineering experience is preferred but not required.
- A working knowledge of civil construction practices, plans, specifications, and documentation
- An understanding of municipal and DOT construction standards and procedures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and construction documentation software; experience with Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is beneficial
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivation, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, clients, and the public
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed
- A valid driver’s license
